Free Gift: King Bertie Fact Book for Kids!

Want to learn even more about King Bertie, his family, and what life was like growing up in the royal household?

Download the King Bertie Fact Book for Kids! I created this free resource to help you explore this fascinating portion of British history in greater depth.

Game #1: Bertie Commands

Did you know that different levels of the United Kingdom aristocracy have different styles of crowns?

Let’s see if you can tell your kings from your barons. Try to guess the rank order of these crowns, with the highest being 1 and the lowest being 6.

Answers included in the downloadable printout.

Game #2: Castle Clues

There are many castles in the United Kingdom–and each is filled with fascinating history!

Do you know which castle is rumored to be haunted? Or which one was the infamous execution site for many unfortunate souls?

One page on this website contains all the castle clues you’ll need to complete this game. Which do you think it is? (Ask an adult for help if you’re stuck.)

Then, once you’ve located all the answers, download the printable game with the button below. Draw a line from the floating fact to its correct castle.

Don’t forget to check your score with the answer sheet download!

Game #3: Design Your Own Cover

Design your own book cover with me! You can pick your own colors, add some talking bubbles, and modify the scene to include any elements you think are missing. What is YOUR Prince Bertie saying?

Submit a digital copy of your finished drawing to Susan@susanmwebb.com for a chance to be featured on this website…with artist credit, of course!

If it’s okay with Mom and Dad, be sure to provide your age and country so we can see where all of our artists reside!

Game #4: Make Yourself a Noble

Draw your own royal portait. It could be a stick figure or a full-color illustration! Cut out your favorite crown from the first game and appoint yourself a noble by attaching it to your new portrait.

Then, submit a digital copy of your finished portrait to Susan@susanmwebb.com for a chance to be featured on this website…with artist credit, of course!

If it’s okay with Mom and Dad, be sure to provide your age and country so we can see where all of our artists reside!

Game #5: Design Your Own Crest

This is the official crest of King Bertie. (To learn more about the secret meanings hidden in the crest, check out this post I wrote!)

A classic mark of nobility is to have your own crest. If you were a noble, what would yours look like? What symbols would you use? What is your life motto?

Design your own using crayons, colored pencils, paint, markers, mixed materials, Legos, clay…or anything else you can imagine!

When you’re finished, I would love to see it–and even display it on my website! With your parents’ permission, email a picture of your crest to: Susan@susanmwebb.com.
